We develop
novel galectin targeting
to fight aggressive cancers.

Galyx is developing next-generation galectin-targeted therapeutics designed to overcome immune suppression in aggressive cancers with high unmet need.

Triple Negative Breast Cancer

A PRESSING MEDICAL NEED

Triple negative breast cancer (TNBC) represents 10–15% of breast cancers and remains one of the most aggressive breast cancer subtypes. Despite recent advances in immunotherapy and targeted treatment, many patients do not benefit from existing options, particularly in the metastatic setting. Galyx is focused on addressing this gap by targeting galectin-mediated immune suppression, a mechanism implicated in tumor progression, metastasis, and resistance.

  • TNBC incidence is rising in the US and Canada, particularly among younger women

  • Patients with TNBC face a high risk of recurrence, particularly within the first 3–5 years following diagnosis

  • The 5-year survival rate for patients with TNBC drops from 77% to 11% following metastasis, with median overall survival of 9-12 months

OUR GOAL

Galyx was founded to translate over two decades of galectin biology research into therapies for patients with aggressive cancers. Our initial focus is triple-negative breast cancer, where immune suppression remains a major barrier to durable treatment responses.

Our Approach

TARGETING GALECTINS TO REPROGRAM THE TUMOR IMMUNE ENVIRONMENT

Galectins regulate key interactions between cancer cells, immune cells, and the tumor microenvironment. Galyx is advancing a galectin-targeting platform designed to disrupt galectin-mediated immune suppression in the tumor microenvironment. Our lead approach uses selective nanobody-derived molecules to target galectins implicated in TNBC biology, with the goal of restoring anti-tumor immune activity and improving responses to existing immuno-oncology strategies.

TRANSLATIONAL POTENTIAL

Galyx Therapeutics’ galectin-targeted platform has potential application beyond TNBC, including additional aggressive cancers where immune suppression and treatment resistance remain major barriers to care.
